Thirty members attended the annual Memorial Lunch which was held on Tuesday 3rd March 2020 being the date of Robert Hooke’s death. We enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Royal Solent Yacht Club preceded by a light-hearted talk and slides on a Tour of Milton Keynes by one of our members, aided by his wife. Although Milton Keynes is a modern town, largely built in the 60’s, it is the home of Willen Church which was designed by Robert Hooke. The windows in the Church were of plain glass, as favoured by Robert Hooke. During the 1800’s one of the windows was replaced by a stained-glass window picturing Robert Hooke. Unfortunately, the stained-glass windows were damaged from bombing during WW2.
We were reminded Milton Keynes is very close to Bletchley Park.
